It’s been a long 2 days and we’re not even at our final destination yet. The tropical island of Koh Rong Samloem, now only a 2 hour boat ride away, will have to wait til the morning.

A trip to Cambodia’s capital from San Francisco is a mere 13 flight, followed by a 4 hour layover in Shanghai, another 4 hour flight to Phnom Penh, and one last tuk tuk to your final destination, or in our case, a a grimy little hotel surrounded by a sea of run down buildings, collapsing sidewalks, and merchants still attempting a sale at 1 am. But the curiosity on our faces was nothing compared to the looks we got the next morning. Turns out, we weren’t in what you might call a touristy area. In fact, I didn’t see a single white person there. And that includes my partner in crime, Jonny. Most every where we went, even at the airport, people approached him in khmer. It was our cameras that were the give away.
